12v fans with 24 vin on a Duet 0.85?

I am thinking of upgrading to 24 volt. My duet is a 0.85 and I wonder if it is possible to use a buck converter to lower the voltage to 12v on the positive side of the fans.
I have read about this for new duets but have not found anything regarding the 0.85.

Note that the positive side of the fans are NOT supposed to be copnnected to the Duet, just directly to the buck converter.
