Initiating a tool change with only axis X and Y homed.
I forgot I had Z commands in my change files so the command to pickup a tool aborted the tool change process.
      But..
      T0 became active anyway.

That's expected behaviour. The only change in RC11 is that RRF will attempt to run the tool change macros even if the machine hasn't been homed.

I'm open to suggestions for alternative behaviour, such as:

        • If the tfree file aborts then deactivate the tool but don't try to load the new tool
        • If the tpre file aborts then don't activate the new tool or run the tpost file

but these might not suit everyone.

          Ah, ok.

My z moves were in my tpost file. I suppose they should be moved to the tpre file?
If so, I'd vote for your two suggested bullet points.
