      Hi,

I wonder if it is possible to have more than five external stepper drivers. I am currently using the Duet 2 Wifi but I could move to another model.

My guess is that it might be possible with Duet3 if I use CanOpen divers but any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately, our application requires much beefier motors so the built-in drivers are just not enough so we need to go to external drivers for all of them.

      Thanks a lot,

      misan

You can connect another 2 external drivers to the CONN_LCD connector. The signals levels are 3.3V so you will almost certainly need to buffer and level shift them to 5V. https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Using_external_stepper_motor_drivers

@dc42 Great, I have not seen that link before, I missed it 🙂

OTOH, would there be an EtherCAT or CANOpen solution compatible somehow to extend the number of axes further?

@dc42 Are these Duet_3_Expansion_1XD available now? If not, is there an ETA?

                Thanks,
