Mixed Fan Voltage on Duet3
-
Can the Duet 3 handle mixed fan voltage?
Supply the FANs directly and only go with the ground over the Duet 3?
Hotendfan: 12V
Part cooling: 24VBr

Yes, but only if the Vfan jumper is set to the highest voltage, given there are to Vfan jumpers you should be able to set one to Vin/24v and one to 12v and connect the fans straight to the relevant outputs on the board?

Is the questionmark at the end indicating a question or a 90% answer?
Or should this 100% (or 99%) work?I just dont want to blow something, as i am missing schematics,....

@empi00 question mark indicate there might be reasons you cannot set one of the two output banks to 12v; maybe you need all but 1 output to be 24v.
if you look at the wiring diagram you will see you can select say 24v for out4-6 and 12v for out7-9 which is so obvious that I add the question mark as to why this is not the path you chose.
but you could select 24v for both output and wire one fans positive wire directly to a 12v supply and the negative wire to the switched output like out9 as described in https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_and_configuring_fans#Section_Using_12V_fans_when_VIN_is_24V
the only thing you shouldn't do is to essenstially use 24v fan when Vin is 12v.

ahhh, ok thank you.
My Vin is 24 Volts.
So I will- choose the Vin = Vout of out7-9.
- wire the 24 Volt fans "straight" from the Duet3
- wire the 12 Volt fan supply line manually to the power line. ("sub voltage" trougth a DC/DC Converter 24 Volt PSU)
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_and_configuring_fans#Section_Using_12V_fans_when_VIN_is_24V
--> That i read already, but i was not sure if this was also true for the Duet3, as the chapter before was "only" for the Duet WifiSeeing now the schematic, i get the reason of the "vin"...
Otherwise the diode will die...Thank you!
