PanelDue higher UART max speed for better responsiveness
-
IMO PanelDue responsiveness would be much better with higher uart speeds. 57600 and 115200 is not very fast, and I do realize that with some long cables or noisy env increasing speed might not be the best option, but I would welcome to setup paneldue and duet3 uart speed higher than 115200.

@Veti I saw that, but:
- max uart speed for duet boards is not specified
- PanelDue has max 115200 at this moment
-
I cant answer that unfortunately, that is based on the capabilities of the ATSAM4S4B

Why? What in particular do you think it would improve?

are you talking about new firmware that uses model json or yuo are talking about 1.24c ? I dropped speed back to 57600 as using fastest speed allowed did not make any changes in how the panel operates so returning to default was imho smart thing to do (as due to firmware upgrade duet2 is always at 57600 irrelevant of the config)
as for cable length, maybe for duet3 we can expect a paneldue board with can interface sometimes in the future (I would not get one tbh, the paneldue as is is more then useful, the next thing is using properly the sbc so for me that would not be very useful can gadget, but ...)

It improved when I changed to 115200. I would expect this to scale up, but perhaps it is not the case.

I am talking about new firmware 3.02

Panel with CAN... that sounds interesting

What in particular improved? I guess if you have lots of gcode files on the SD card, displaying the file list might be faster at a higher baud rate.

good to know, I have not tried the new one yet (still don't have both hands operational so working on the printer is rather complicated / impossible) ... with 1.24c and 3.1 firmware I did not notice any difference increasing comm speed

@dc42 For sure startup (in terms of getting all values refreshed and initilized). I would need to measure how fast it reacts, as I observed it takes some time between selecting tool and actual confirmation in color change.
