Problems connecting Z-probe using a microswitch



  • Hello,

    I have a inductive sensor, signalling an optocoupler for closing a circuit between the signal pin and the ground pin. This works for the x and y axis.
    I have the same sensor which I want to use for my z probe. Browsing on the website gives me two choices:

    1. Connect to z-probe.in and ground, do the same. Doesn't work
    2. Set it in P4 and connect it to the E0 stop. This doesn't work since I have RRF3.1. The specific help the website provides is only for firmwares which are older and not working for the current firmwares.

    My question: I have a signal and ground cable for a sensor fitted next to the nozzle. Where do I put which cable AND what do I write in my configuration.g? I do not want to avoid the board with the optocouplers, just working with those cables.

    What does the command the references "z-probe.in" look like?

    In RRF3 you would use M558 P5 and specify the pin being used in M558 C.

    What duet board are you using?

    You only have 2 cables? 1x Signal 1x ground?
    Most normal induction sensors require 3 wire connections... 1x power (12-36v is common) 1x signal 1x ground.
    How are the other sensors wired? Do they have an additional power connection?



  • yes it has a seperate power supply, therefore 2 cables. Using the Duet 2 wifi, firmware 3.1.1.

    I have an optocoupler that switches when the signal cable is active. I want to use that circuit for the z probe. Therefore, I thought: I use P5, state C"zprobe.in" and use my ground on the other side. This didn't work. Any ideas?
