Considering Duet Wifi for Maker Select v2

Heya! I'm pretty new to 3d printing - the Micro SD port on the reprap board just tanked, and I'm not versed enough to repair surface mount parts, so I'm considering upgrading to the Duet Wifi.
I'm totally fine with learning - but is installing this within the grasp of a reasonably patient newbie, or should I just go for a replacement reprap board?

If by reprap board you mean the one that RepRapPro supplied with their printers, then you are already half way there because it was a Duet 0.6 which was superseded by the 0.8.5 and now the Wifi/Ethernet. The 06 is pretty much obsolete and the latter boards are far superior so IMO you'd be better off getting the WiFi/Ethernet version.

Sounds good! I agree this board is definitely better - but is it newbie friendly enough to be something I could get up and running in a few weeks?

This forum has been a huge help to myself, so between the documentation and the forums, I doubt you could come across questions someone here couldn't answer.

Thanks guys! I've already been perusing the duet wiki, haven't started to dig in to the gcode yet. And darokee I bumped in to your post on github a while back - it originally just made me think it was possible for someone pretty new to this.
I've started documenting the whole progress with photos and a writeup so if someone decides to do the same thing later, they'll know what's involved and get a better feel for it.

Got it going!
(Mostly!) It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I'll do a write up on some pain points later - but aside from some mistakes I made on my end it pretty much worked out of the box.
