Do fan manufacturer provide graphs of CFM vs voltage? Is this something that can easily be measured?

Now that you have good control of the fan, would be interesting to know for example what 50% voltage means in cooling terms.

I don't even thing that the manufacturer expects you to run the fan at other voltage than nominal... If I had some way to measure air flow I could perform some measurements, something like displacement of a suspended weight or the like.

It all seems ok, so I will build the boards and send them as soon as posible 🙂

            First board assembled and tested!

You can see the new integrated electrolytic capacitor, smd diode and led. I'll try to assemble/pack all boards this weekend, and send them early next week.

Looks very nice. Now when somebody will complain that fan X doesn't work with PWM we can point them here. 😉

I've just reserved the last board 😞

I still have 5 spare pcb boards, but not all the components: I have the resistors/capacitors/opamp, but I don't have the electrolytic capacitor, diode and led. Could that suit you?

I usually put orders to mouser every other month or so, so if u can wait maybe I'll can add the parts in my next order. Or if there are more people interested, I can run another batch.

In my case, I as of now attempted a "manual recurrence clear" from 10Hz to a few KHz, and there was not a great one. Moreover, the development board (Duex5) includes a fixed PWM recurrence of 500Hz, so I got to bargain with that. I'm building the model right presently, and I'm as of now mindful of the control scattering. But I'm beneath 100mA, and within the more awful case (approximately 50% PWM) the BJT would burn almost 0.6W max, which is satisfactory for my case, fair a small heatsink will do. On the off chance that I had to utilize higher streams, it completely would be a issue tho.

Are you doing your own pcb from my design? If so, remember to use a big capacitor at the output, and a diode, they are not specified in the schematic I posted. Also, a mid-power BJT would be required (like BD139).

                            Hello!
What a great project. Is there any chance to still buy PCB's, or is the design open source?

@teus, if you are interested, there is an alternative design that is based of dc42's idea of passive filtering of a high frequency (hardware) PWM. The design contains three independent channels for up to three fans and works for me. It was done using JLCPCB's online design software and can assembled units can be ordered directly from JLCPCB using their SMT service.

They are from Egons gerber Files and work like a charm.
Feel fre to contact me about it.
