      Hi everyone,
This is my first post here on the forums, thanks for having g me here
first i do apologize, English is not my native language and i am sorry for any typing errors.

I own an almost stock Creality CR 10 30x30 and was working great till my melzi gave up on me.

and i just bought some upgrades to upgrade from the melzi board.
      i bought a Duet 2wifi and 7i paneldue
a Bondtech Direct drive kit with pancake stepper and E3d V6
and its almost working.. Its homing . jay 🙂
it is working but i am getting some errors
      Temperature reading fault on heater.
and M140: Can't activate heater 0 while in fault state

i check the sensors but they do read temps both near room temps .so i asume they are ok
i heard that there is a special sensor in the e3d heaterblock. if so it does work but do not have a clue what other sensor i have to put in the config.

perhaps there is someone i can compare configs to.
i did use the configtool to create the settings but i have no idea where to put the bondtech settings vref steps etc etc or where to find them in the reprap tool sorry for all the questions ..

The Bondtech steps per mm is around ~400 or so I think. NOt sure what your documentation for it says. That gets changed in the M92 command.

        M92 X80.00 Y80.00 Z400.00 E93.00 ; set steps per mm

        Becomes

        M92 X80.00 Y80.00 Z400.00 E400 ; set steps per mm

The motor current for the pancake stepper will depend on what the max rated current is for that motor. Do you have the specs for it? If the rated current is 1000ma, you would want to set it to use 60-80% of that, so 600 to 800ma. That gets set in M906 E

M906 X800 Y800 Z800 E1000 I50 ; set motor currents (mA) and motor idle factor in per cent

For the E3D thermistor you'd need to change the values in this line

        M308 S1 P"e0temp" Y"thermistor" T100000 B4092

        To become this

        M308 S1 P"e0temp" Y"thermistor" T100000 B4725 C7.06e-8

You should also look into PID tuning your heaters.

thank u for pointing me out on this... i will have to look for the exact pancake specs settings for the settings .. once again thank u !!

i found this about the bondtech
internal gear ratio of 3:1 and 415 steps per mm so i that wil be
            M92 X80.00 Y80.00 Z400.00 E415 ; set steps per mm

            Motor Tyle: Bipolar Stepper Motor
            Size: NEMA 17 (42x42x22.6mm)
Works with 12V and 24V Printers
            Max Current: 1 Amp/Phase
            Step Angle: 1.8 deg.

do i have to change more due to the gear ratio or no need to change that?

The gear ratio is taken into consideration when they give the steps per mm count.

@Lampie said in Bondtech settings vref:

              Max Current: 1 Amp/Phase

So I had a good guess before and the max rated current is 1000ma, so using 600 to 800 ma would be a good start.

The 415 microsteps/mm already accommodates the gear and 1.8deg/step stepper motor. If your extruder stepper happen to have 0.9deg/step you need to double that value.
