Duet 3 mini Expansion board -- options for wiring?

I didn't think this through (-:

I planned to replace a Duet2 Wifi and Duex board with a Duet 3 mini plus expansion board. My problem is that the enclosure (underbed sheet metal) is too low profile to make the normal plug-in connection for the the expansion board work.

Is it feasible at all to use a ribbon cable or similar to put the expansion board next to the normal Duet 3 mini board? Or is that madness?

You can try it, but keep the ribbon cable as short as possible.
