      Hello. I have recently been given a E 3d BOGBOX duel head extruder printer. I have been told the printer has never worked from day one since it was purchased and assembled. i hve played around with it some and have gone over the set up for the Rumba board again. So i now have the screen showing me an interface with a "Bed overheat" alarm. and since the person I got this from has been through 4 boards trying to get this to work I have decided to purchase an Duet wifi board and and a 7" screen to go with it. My problem now is i am new to 3D printing and was wondering if anyone has any good tips on to accomplish this rebuild. plus setting up the new board and screen as well. thanks

        Hi @testpro, thanks for choosing Duet!

        Here are some resources to get you started:

        • The online configuration generator at https://configtool.reprapfirmware.org/Start. This can generate a basic single-head configuration file and homing files for you. I suggest you use it to generate configuration and homing files using the left head only, and get the machine working using just the left head, with the right head parked at the right endstop switch.

        • When that's working, look at https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/ConfiguringMultipleIndependentXcarriagesCartesian. This will tell you how to change the configuration files to use the second print head, how to write the homing file for the right hand print head, and how to set up tools for ditto printing and mirror printing.

        Hint: ditto and mirror printing are easiest to set up if you choose X=0 Y=0 to be at the centre of the bed.

        If you have any problems making sense of those pages, ask here.

            If your printer actually has independent X-axes, the DuetWiFi will not have enough onboard stepper drivers. You might need the DUEX5 extension board, too?

              @dc42 Hay thank you. I just got the parts in and have the duet2 up and running after connecting to pc and doing a firmware update. i also have the 7" touch screen attached and working. Now it is down to wiring up the board and swapping it out.

              the setting up one head head first then the second is a good idea. after i get it wired up and in i will be taking you up on the suggestions above. thanks

                  hello well if Y axis is front and back and X is left to right and standing in front of printer my X axis has 2 extruders attached together driven on to chrome bars with a cog belt. so i am going to say no not separate independent x axis but to extruder heads sharing same the same axis if that makes since. I believe there are just enough on the duet with 5 to get me there.

                    @testpro there’s a long thread here https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/17995/unable-to-home-z-axis/76?_=1620854071811 with some example config files for a single extruder bigbox, which may help. Read the thread, but use the files from the end, they are the latest and correct ones, at least for that machine.

                      Correct, if the two extruders are on the same carriage then you have enough stepper drivers on the Duet. Some users converted their BigBox machines to IDEX but that was not an E3D product.

                        @dc42 hello ok i have got the duet 2 board and have it communicating with the PC. So i then wired up the board and everything is working as far as i can tell but when i go to configure as you suggested above and go through the steps to make a file for the printer and it gives me a zip file. i then have the zip file and upload under system then file and system files upload then the control software telling only one file can be read?
                        i then go to the dash board page and tell x to home and or Y to home the z motors act like they want to move and the x and y steppers are doing nothing? the program is also telling me the Failed to enable end stops.

                        i have got to have something wrong.

                          @testpro ok after playing some and restarting the printer i can get the x and y axis to home somewhat.
                          the x home will make the extruder head move from right to left and the y axis from front of printer to back of printer. but once x homes and then i tell y to home the extruder moves from back of printer to front of printer and the extruder bounces trying to go left.

                          I know this is not right i have something backwards but i know the wiring is correct i have checked it twice. i also think the end stop for x is not working properly either due to bouncing but no sure.

                                @testpro in the mean time can you tell me how to check the sensor used on the z axis is good or not, the z axis will not home but it will run up to extruder and beyond it you allow it., so i do not if it bad or i have a bad setting.

                                      Not exactly sure what you mean. What kind of probe is it? How is it wired?

                                        the Z sensor is what came with the printer but i have found the problem and now it works.

                                        i have been working on things and here is where i am at now with the printer.

                                        X axis will home by moving to the left (from front of machine) after double bump on end stop

                                        Y axis will home by moving to front of printer but this makes the X axis bounce in its end stop until Y reaches its end stop. this can not be right? can it?

                                        Z axis will home after i flipped the wires so it runs in the up direction and not down.

                                        the bed reads the correct temperature and it does heat but the program stops it from heating saying it is not heating up fast enough. there is a setting for this i assume?

                                        So need to figure out Y axis home issue and heater faulting out because of not heating fast enough.

                                        thank you for your response above it helped me figure out the sensor issue.

                                        any suggettions on these issues?

                                          Not sure what you mean by this. Can you show a video?

                                          You'll need to PID tune the heater.

                                            @phaedrux Getting a video file small enough to upload is a problem at this point.

                                            basically i home x and the carriage goes to the left in the X direction but the Y direction is going to the back of the machine.

                                            Now X is homed and then tell y to home and y moves to the front of the machine and the carriage is bouncing off the X end stop and makes the whole shake until Y hits its end stop on front of machine.
