I have been searching on the forums and the Wiki, and there's no definitive answer.
The Duet 3 6HC says "LED strip support: RGB Neopixel (max. 60 LEDs) or DotStar"
The wording makes me think the 60 LED limitation only applies to NeoPixel, but not DotStar. Am I correct in my assumption?

You are correct. There is firmware limit for DotStar, but it is very high. A more serious limit is the power needed to drive a long LED strip.

The limit for Neopixel is increased to 80 in firmware 3.3.

The DotStar LEDs are going to be powered by external PSU.
Could you please define "very high"? Hundreds of LEDs? Thousands? I am trying to plan lighting for my 3D printer and ordering PSUs and LED strips accordingly. And yes, I plan on using thousands in the end 🙂

@war4peace I just checked the code again. The maximum number of DotStar LEDs in RRF 3.3 on Duet 3 MB6HC would be 61440.

Thank you very much, that definitely answers my question 🙂
One little thing, you might want to add that limit to the Wiki - maybe there's another strange guy like me who wants to know in the future 🙂
