    Help to set up Duet IR Probe

      Dear all

      I have installed the original IR Probe Duet sensor in my Ender 3 with the Duet Mini 5+ .

      Installation and configuration it is all ok.

      1. The system detect the sensor with the right lights
      2. I have set in the firmware the height using the G92 Z0
      3. Send the command G30-S1 to test the Probe sensor and stops correctly before touching the bed (probably 1 or 2 mmm before touching the bed)
      4. I have repeated the steps multiple times to confirm the height of the nozzle in reference to the IR probe sensor
      5. I have declared the Z trigger height in my config.g file and checked is not duplicated in my config-override.g file
      6. Finally trigger height using M999 command

      As you can see after this I have ran the bed leveling with success, but when I trying to print, the Nozzle start to scratch my bed from the very beginning.

      I am sure that I am missing something but I am new in this kind of setting up a Probe sensor, always I was doing manually.

      I have follow with attention the guides in your forum and other other sites but still I dont find the issue in my config.g file.

      I know you guys can find the issue easy, here is my config.g

        The Z offset should be positive; think of it as the nozzle height when the probe is triggered. See point 7, https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Test_and_calibrate_the_Z_probe#Section_Calibrate_the_Z_probe_trigger_height

        For any other type of Z probe where the probe triggers before the nozzle contacts the bed, it will be positive.

        You also haven't set your X and Y offsets. X will be something like -30, Y will be close to 0.

        Also be aware that, because your bed is not black all over, the probe may respond differently over the white areas.

          Hi, very useful your help to setup much better my offset for X and Y.

          Still I have the problem in the beginning. When the printer is in Home position (left-down) and I start a print, the nozzle hit the same left corner. There is a way to add in the code to avoid the contact with the bed?

          I am trying to follow some guides but I am still not understanding how I can add the parameter in the code to avoid the bed. I mean I just need to put the nozzle a little bit higher when start to move from the home position.

          Right now I am thinking in to change the position of Home to the center of the bed, probably this is easier. I dont know.

            @javcab is it because Z homes in the corner, so the IR probe is off the bed? Change the homing position in homeall.g and homez.g. It’s the G1 X… Y… line just before G30. Often it is X15 Y15. Change it to the coordinates of the centre of the bed. Post your homeall.g if you are not sure.

              @droftarts Yes, is out of the bed the home in my Ender 3.

                  You need to replace those lines with

                  G1 X150 Y150 F6000 ; position probe at center of bed
                  G30 ; probe for Z0
                  

                  Right now you are setting Z0 with an endstop rather than the probe. Hence this incongruent height.

                  After changing to G30 to use the probe, you should redo the mesh compensation (G29)

                    Also check your trigger height again. a negative trigger height means the nozzle tip is BELOW the bed surface.
