So three weeks of use and the LED illumination on my V2 smart effector no longer works. The heat sink fan works fine, and I understand that they are supposed to be linked.

I’m running the system on 24V, with the jumper set appropriately. It worked great for the first couple of weeks.

What should I be looking at?

When you said "Wit the jumper set appropriately", please confirm that the jumper was removed (it should be fitted for 12V operation only).

Assuming you have version 1.3, the schematic is athttps://github.com/Duet3D/SmartEffector/blob/master/SmartEffector/SmartEffector_v1.3/SmartEffector_Schematic_v1.3.pdf. You can see from it that the three LEDs are connected in series with each other and with R8 and R9. So those are the components to check.

The traces routed between the LEDs are close to the edge of the PCB. On one production batch there was a problem because the break-off areas between PCBs on the panel were close enough to the traces that the traces sometimes became damaged. So I suggest you check those traces too.

Let us know what you find, and whether you would like to repair it yourself or have the effector replaced under warranty.

Yes - I can confirm that by “set correctly” I mean that there is no jumper.

I’ll have a look and see what I can figure out, but to be honest, I’m a bit dirty that I only just got this printer built, working and dialled in, and now I have to pull it apart again just as I got to the fun bit. 😞

That said, I’m happy with the Smart Effector, except for this failure. I think it has become an essential component in any decent Delta build.
