Hi, I've dig the forums page and I've not found the info I'm looking for yet, so I decided to take a chance and ask you guys.

I've read the documentation but I think I just don't understand the instruction(and I'm afraid to burn the board or break my printer if I misunderstand and do something wrong).

I use the old plenty simple concept of the allen key activating a microswitch as a Z min probe. It work like a charme on my old setup. Now that I've upgraded the board, I just don't know for sure how to connect it on the Duet2-Ethernet.

There is multiple information about it and can't figure out which one to use for my desired configuration.

Also, the is instruction to define if it's a NC or NO (mine is NC), that I have to set in the firmware, again, not sure what to do either.

Here is the info I have:
      https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_a_Z_probe

      1. Connect it between the STP and GND pins of the E0 connector and select mode 4.

mode 4: The trigger signal is read from the E0 endstop circuit. You can choose whether the signal is high or low when triggered <--(high when triggered = switch is NO and close then triggered ?)

"The device connected to the E0 STP pin must be able to sink 1.5mA for the Duet 2 WiFi and Duet 2 Ethernet, 0.3mA for the Duet 2 Maestro, or 2.1mA for the Duet 0.6 or 0.8.5. In firmware 2.03 and later you can choose a different endstop input using the C parameter of the M558 command. <-- the micro switch handle the amp requirement, but I don't understand the instruction about the C parameter, neither the M558 command.

      1. On the same page:
        mode 4:
Probe type: Digital probe connected to E0 endstop input, or endstop input set by C parameter
Control signal (MOD or OUT pin): Not used
Notes: Not supported in RRF 3. Use type 5 or 8. See M558 documentation

So I have to use, not the mode 4, but the mode 5 or 8 ??
I've read the M558 documentation and don't understand...

I'm not sure which version of FW i'll use since I'm new to Duet and just received the board few days ago and try to figure everything out for the first time. I though I would follow a setp-by-setp instruction, connect everything and then deal with the FW, but apparently, the installation seems to depend of the FW version I'll use (or I misunderstood something).

I'm so afraid to do something wrong and burn the board. If you guys can give a hand, it will be greatly appreciated. thank you for your kind response.

@carl let's start by finding out which firmware version is installed on your Duet. Please follow the Getting Connecting guide, then send command M115 to the Duet to determine the firmware version.

          @dc42 Hi,

Ok, I followed all the instruction until it suggest to update the firmware. The FW version I have is 3.1.1.

At STEP 7: To update it I have to connect to the DWC, right ?

In the Installing & updating procedure:

          --"Usual procedure
Download firmware zip bundle (named Duet2and3Firmware-3.xxx.zip) , or individual binary files, from https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware...
          Connect to DuetWebControl.
In DWC, go to the System page and click the "Upload System Files" button."--

So I have to go back and set the connection, which I did, I guess... I followed step 8, 10, and step 11, does not work for me.

I set a permanent IP address, then connected my board into my switch (not a rooter). I tried to connect via the IP address in a browser, as well as the http://duettest.local/ and... nothing !

Is there a special procedure to connect through a switch instead of directly on the rooter ? I have to find a way because the rooter is very, very far and I had to pass a cable through the entire house and connect all my PC on a switch(as well as the printer).
