Hi there! I am building a 3D printer from scratch and I am using the Duet 3 6HC Mainboard to control the machine. I plan on having one Nema 23 stepper motor connected to Driver_0 (X-axis), two Nema 23 stepper motors connected to Driver_1 (Y-axis), and two Nema 17 stepper motors connected to Driver_2 (Z-axis).

The board was working perfectly fine until yesterday, when smoke began to rise from the motor drives. The X-axis driver still works, but the Y and Z axes drivers no longer work. I tried reconfiguring my config.g code so that the Y and Z axes are connected to drivers 3 and 4 respectively, but they still do not work.

My hunch is that drivers 2 through 5 are all damaged, and I was hoping to seek some advice on repairing/replacing those drivers, or even how to replace the board completely via warranty. Thanks in advance!

Wow - those drivers are pretty robust.

Any idea what went wrong? What current settings were in use at the time?

        Thanks.

@fcwilt I think I partially blew Driver_1's chip and transistors off... I was giving the board 30V and a max of 3A current. Is it possible to remove that driver and see if the other ones work when it's removed?

How are the two motors connected to driver_1?
Parallel would be the best way, but if one motorconnection fails, the other coil get's twice the current...
