      I just discovered, that iso-truss (IsoTruss trademark) is expired now: https://patents.google.com/patent/EP1358392B1/en expired end of July 2021. There are parametrized OpenScad models here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3512895 and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3719475

      It is said that iso-truss would allow high loads with low weight. An article about it is eg. https://research-information.bris.ac.uk/ws/portalfiles/portal/77505201/Ultra_efficient_wound_composite_truss_structures_preprint.pdf

      The strength and stiffness comes from two factors, the composite material and the geometry, the homepage of the trademark has a FAQ section explaining it well.
