Can I connect an AP to this 5V connection?

The AP should need 5V / 1A (will probably be a little less).
In the description of the 6HC it says that up to 3A are possible.
Or could I also connect the AP to the USB port to get the voltage from there?

@dogma2k that connection is external 5V input only. Also the USB port is for 5V input only.

        There is a 5V output on v1.01 and earlier MB6HCs: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Duet_3_Mainboard_6HC_Hardware_Overview#Section_5V
Designed to power a SBC like a raspberry pi.

Be sure that the AP won't overload it, even at startup. Generally we would recommend powering external devices from there own power supply.
