How to protect Duet 3?
-
Hi everyone, I have a few questions about the protection of the duet 3 as far as the power supply is concerned.
Since the card cost a lot (it must be admitted), I would like to try to avoid all possible voltage issues. I have seen that many put either a mofset or a relay. So I would like to know, please, what protection to put, and the specific model, between the power supply and the duet 3.
I also point out that the chosen power supply supplies 24 volts, 30A, 720 watts. It is true that it is high as voltage, but I plan to add other components that bypass the duet. I tell you this because I have read from the duet documentation that it accepts a maximum of 25A. Now I know that we are talking about absorption but I would like to try to protect as much as possible.
Last question: I would also have the duet 3 expansion, these relays / mofsets that you will recommend to me I think I will have to add that between the power supply and the expansion, right?
Thank you for your attention.

This would be to allow the user to switch the Duet board on and off or have the Duet switch on the main power supply. This doesn't have anything to do with protection.
The best way to protect your Duet would be to choose a high quality power supply rated to your needs.

@phaedrux
Hi, thank you for answering me. I read the guide you sent me and on the power supply I think I got a good one (even seeing the price paid).
I got the power supply together with the duet 3 from the official Italian dealer, so I trust there are no problems. Anyway, thank you again.
