      Hi,

New timer here so apologies if this is a repeat (I didn't find it after a quick search).

Finally motivated to get a used Folgertech 3D printer back up and running, but encountering some potential issues early on.

CURRENT STATE: Have a Duet2 V1.04 board on the bench connected to my laptop via USB running "RepRapFirmware for Duet 2 WiFi/Ethernet Version 3.1.0 dated 2020-05-15b1".

GOAL: Trying to update to the latest firmware per recommendation of the Duet3D Documentation.

PROCESS: Downloaded Duet2and3Firmware-3.4.1.zip and uploaded via DWC > System > Upload System files.

EXPECTATION: Communicating via serial (M115) and/or looking at DWC > Machine-Specific should show RepRapFirmware 3.4.1

ISSUE?: Though the DWC > General shows it is on the 3.4.1 version, the RepRapFirmware is still 3.1.0.

Is the discrepancy I am noting actually an or issue or is 3.1.0 is the latest firmware what what I have? If this is an issue, any recommendations on how else to install the latest firmware? I tried following the "Fallback Procedure #1" outlined in the documentation but without much luck/change.

      Thanks,
      K

Did you see a message asking if you wanted to update the firmware?

If not execute M997 S0 and see if that helps.

Thanks for the reply. I believe I did see the message and I believe I have clicked yes. I can try again later.

And yes I have run that command before as part of the "Fallback procedure #1" but it doesn't change the reported firmware.

Do you see any error messages?

When in doubt you can manually flash the firmware over USB and Bossa. That's fallback procedure #2

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't see any error messages...

I guess I will have to try #2. Looks like it is easier in Windows...guess I need to get my old PC back up and running as well 🙂

It's possible you're missing some files from the 3.0 release, so if you don't want to try the Bossa method, you could try uploading the full zip file for 3.0 and then trying 3.4.1 again.

                  Mwahahahah! Success.

Thank you so much. (Funny enough I was thinking the same thing...but just assumed that the zip file has everything and should be doing a fresh install right?!?!)

                  Anyway for future reference:

                  • I downloaded the entire 3.0 zip file and uploaded via the DWC "Upload System Files"
                  • I said "Yes" to installing the new firmware
                  • After the install, the DWC was saying version 2.0.4 for some reason but the firmware on the board does not report 3.0 which was as expected
                  • Then I uploaded the entire 3.4.1 zip file using the same method as before and now both the DWC and RRF are both on 3.4.1

                  WOOHOO!!!

I was curious what missing file(s) would be the cause of this issue but causing this resolved for now.

                  Thank you all,
                  K
