Power consumtion of my 3D Printer

  • Hi Guys,

i collected some Data of my 3D Printer Stuff and wanna know how mutch i have to pay to use my 3D Printer.
I've to say that i live at Germany and we pay around 0,29€ for eatch kWh.

    I got a 230V Silicon Heatbed and a 12V e3D Hotend + a big LED light.
So is something wrong with my Device that collected this or is it realy that cheap?

  • Mhh, that's AVM or?

What i do not understand is that it should Show Calculated kw/h in one month but it scaling in Euro.

That doesn't make sense. Anyhow did you configure the 0.29€ per kw/h somewhere? Cause i doubt that it is so cheap.

One sidenode: You use 2 Power-Connectors (one for the 12V Powerrail and one for the 230V Silicon-Heatbed). Do you monitor both? Or only (i guess) the 12V Rail?

  • Additional it depends how your printer is used 😉

  • I have a watt meter on the bench supplying my printers (3 of them) , and a room scale air filter system. My kossel Xl draws max 900w when everything is heating up and typically cruises at 200-250w. So 1 hour's printing would be 0.25kwh at 15p/kwh. So around 3.5p/hour. My micro delta can print for 3 hours running from a 16.8v 6600mah lithium pack. Air filter uses between 40-100w depending on fan speed. So I'd say they are pretty low energy consumption and good value unless you're printing yoda heads.

For comparison we think our printers have powerful heaters but my 500w bed uses 1/6 the energy of my kettle! Motors and the like use practically no power at all they are moving really tiny masses very short distances.

However measure the energy consumed by a consumer paper printer and you can see we have a long way to go before we can consider 3d printers A++energy rated appliances.

It would be very interesting to know the energy consumption of an object injection moulded versus 3d printed.

  • I use FRITZ!DECT 200
And yes i added the the 0,29€/kWh

Have you connected a 3 socket outlet (Mehrfachsteckdose) to FritzDect200 or only one plug?

  • yes

  • @AS-3D:

    yes

I assume your answer is made to "Mehrfachsteckdose".

But you have not told us anything how long the printer was used in that timeframe, if you use the Heatbed always, how long the prints run….

    You're right. 😉
I used my Printer in that Time about 12h or even more.
And the power i used at the End was more cause i tryed to print with ASA with the Heatbed at 95°C and the Hotend about 250°C.

Looks like your connection to Duet3D was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
