6HC and Mini5+ WIFI as slave

I am considering using 6HC board as main board and add mini 5+ Wifi board as an expansion board. any reason why I cant do it? Also would i be able to connect via the Wifi on Mini5+ to control and monitor the main board? or would i have to make the mini5+ board the main and 6HC the expansion?

@Behrouz-AKT yes you can connect a mini 5 as an expansion board for a 6HC.
you can use the wifi on the mini 5 when its in expansion board mode but it would only get you info on itself and wouldn't be able to control the 6HC.
You would have to make the mini 5+ the mainboard which isn't ideal as its the weaker of the 2 boards.Which 6HC version do you have?

@Behrouz-AKT if you want to control the system over wifi, you must either make the Duet 3 Mini WiFi the master, or use a Duet 3 6HC version 1.02 board with the optional WiFi module as the master. The second option is recommended if the 6HC will be driving the axis motors, and will also give you faster wifi.

Thanks for the reply - I have a 1.01 6HC board from a while back and i am currently looking for some expansion. Its nice to have the WIFI while developing and maybe switch it at a later time.

@dc42 Thanks. even one 6HC is an overkill for my project. I was initially looking at 3HC and running some steppers in series. Then I realized that main boards can be made slaves and the Mini 5 is a great option for additional drives and it has the WIFI too. I think the project will end as two Mini 5 brds when all is done. Thanks.
