So is this a bug? If so that makes me feel a little better knowing its not something I am doing. I did try to use just the WIFI and deleted the ethernet M552 but even that didnt help. here is the network portion of my config if that helps. Thank you for helping

@buz said in need help with duet3 6hc and new wifi chip:

Comment out (with a semicolon at the beginning) or delete this line, which enables the Ethernet:

        ;M552 P192.168.1.44 S1

Ethernet is fine, I need the wifi connection to start from the config file at boot.
If I comment out that line I wont be able to connect at all.

@buz You have commands in your config.g to enable both Ethernet and WiFi. @dc42 said that currently there is a bug that causes the WiFi to be ignored if you enable Ethernet. So don't enable Ethernet, and WiFi will be enabled in config.g.

Help again. I finally got around to trying this. I uncomment the m552 to enable the ethernet, left the M552 I1 S1 to enable wifi and try to connect. No luck. Had to uncomment and reconnect with ethernet. When I do a M552 I1 from web control it responds WIFI disabled. This makes sense with what DC said but I can enable it within web control and have it start & connect. Any ideas?? has to be something Im doing in the config that is not starting the WIFI. thanks

@buz please post your config.g. Also post response to M98 p"config.g" and M122.

@buz I confirm that the issue with enabling the wifi module does not depend on whether or not Ethernet is enabled too. I implemented a fix last Friday.

Which firmware version are you using?

@buz Can you post your full config.g as well? In the M122 report, it says Ethernet is active, and also the WiFi signal strength is 0dBm. If this is straight after startup, then the Ethernet is not being disabled in your config.g.
