Solved Cant connect - Used CNC with Duet 2 Card
-
Hey All,
Ive recently purchased a used CNC with a duet2 Ethernet card. Ive been told its hardly been used - And I can believe it, its in mint condition with not a hint of use/dust
But Im having issues connecting.
Its a duet2 Ethernet card.
Ive tried connecting via USB (with just the power from the USB) and nothing is appearing in my device manager, the card is lit up though, so it is getting power). Usually, Id expects a sound when something new is plugged in. There are no new notifications and no new devices under "Ports (com & lpt)" in the device manager.
I then opted to plug in the Ethernet and check my mesh network and no new devices showed up. Currently, it shows all my wired and wireless connections, but no new ones
Im debating hitting the reset button, but seeing as I've never used this card I'm unsure if it might wipe the firmware at the same time.
Anyway, that's where Im at. Any help and advice would be appreciated.

@mattyd can you run through this page? https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Troubleshooting/Duet_wont_respond

from that page
"the DIAG LED will turn on as power is applied, then turn off as soon as the firmware starts loading, usually less than 0.5 second."
I can see no lights turn off, once plugged in they all light up and stay lit up...that said I also am unsure which led is the "DIAG LED "

@mattyd the diag LED is the one just above the ethernet connector.
If it doesn't power off, can you try booting the board without the SD card in and see if a COM port appears?
If it doesn't, try erasing the firmware as described here https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Troubleshooting/Duet_wont_respond#if-the-port-still-doesnt-appear-on-the-pc -

so just to confirm, Ive attached another image. Arrows pointing out the "DIAG LED" - Because if so it's still very much on as I sit here looking at the board

@mattyd yep, thats the one.
there are certain circumstances that it stays on (such as using certain z probes etc) but i wouldn't expect that to be the case with your setup -
woot! I think we have got there - I took the card out, gave it a blow, re installed and and its no been recognised by the device manager!
