Smart Effector set
-
sorry, i can not figure out:
do i need PT100 sensor?
do i need PT100 board?do i need to purchase that " rest of the e3d v6 hotend." separately? it is shown on the pictures…
thank you!P.S. when IR probe will be available?
-
The E3D hot ends can be used with a thermistor, PT100, or thermocouple temperature sensor. If you use the thermistor, then you don't need the daughter board. The PT100 sensor is more accurate, but you need the daughter board to use it.
-
David, thanks!
so, to have full set of items for the hot end that includes- smart effector parts , (PCBs etc)
- heat sink,
- thermal barrier
- heater block
- nozzle (by the way, whick size&)
- heater cartridge
- temp sensor
- fan with clip
- silicone sock
i select SmartEffector +e3d PT100 ?
on the top of that i need to order separately
- carbon arms
- PT100 board
are these lists complete ??
thank you!
-
Yes I think that list is complete.
Regarding IR sensor availability, I don't know why they are showing as out of stock on duet3d.com. I have plenty available to order at escher3d.com. But of course a printer with the Smart Effector doesn't need an IR sensor.
-
Now i'm affarid to ask - SmartEffector….
i found on thу web that it works as a "strain gauge“, thus works with any surface (including glass)
the precision is about than 7 micronis that correct? thanks!
-
The repeatability depends on the resolution and repeatability of your tower motors and mechanics too; but yes, that is correct.
-
David,
im trying to put the order in, there are 2 issues:
- IR probe (for other printer) is listed as out of stock
- i want to pay by UK bank transfer.
order is:
- IR
- PT-100 board
- Delta Smart Effector + Options: 6 Spare Magballs + e3d V6 (no Heatsink, 24V e3d V6 with PT100
can you please email me your bank details for payment of £146.65
thank you! -
I can supply the IR sensor because I manufacture them (see my site escher3d.com); but I am sorry, I can't help with the other items, which are supplied by Think3DPrint3d of behalf of Duet3D. They are closed until 2 January.
-
that is ok. i can wait till Jan 2nd… please email me the invoice. thank you!
-
You will need to email info at duet3d dot come with a list of what you want to order; except that you can order the IR sensor direct from me at escher3d.com now if you wish.
-
what is a fan voltage and RPM ?
can we use 3-wire fan with speed sensor? -
The fan voltage can be 12V or 24V, whichever you supply from the Duet. There is a 12V/24V jumper on the effector to adjust the lighting current for the supply voltage.
You can use a 3-wire fan if you leave the speed sense wire (normally yellow) disconnected.

David, 2 questions
-
motor question i moved to appropriate section https://www.duet3d.com/forum/thread.php?pid=36907#p36907
-
smart effector has heater cartridge….
what kind of power does it take? is it 2Amp??? (i need to purchase correct cable)
thanks!
-
-
The heater cartridge comes with the E3D hot end and is available in 12V and 24V versions. The current will be 1 to 2A for the 24V version, and 2 to 4A for the 12V version.
-
thank you!
-
i want to return unused 2-wire PT100 and get 4 wire version. how much that will cost?
-
E3D doesn't yet sell 4-wire PT100 sensors. What I recommend is to use a 2-wire sensor but to run 4 wires from the effector to the Duet.
-
ok… is there any other place to buy 4 wire sensor?
-
We have discussed 4-wire PT100 sensors with E3D. However, the 2-wire version is more than accurate enough, and the Smart Effector lets you run 4 wires from the effector back to the Duet even when you are using a 2-wire PT100 sensor.

I was wanting to buy the PT100 Daughter Board and the PT100 sensor, is this all I need because I saw on E3d website the is a little board that come with the sensor. Is this the equivalent to the PT100 Daughter Borad?
Also is the another type osf sensor I could use on the hotbed with this board to have a better reading?
