      Hi there,

I am a bit confused and want to ask for help before I fry my Duet 6XD.
I have a WS2812 LED strip with 44 LEDs and two Tower Pro MG996R servos which I want to control with the 6XD.
The current draw will roughly be 3-5.5A depending on the situation.
Can I connect an external 5V power supply to the 5V_EXT_IN pin (with no jumpers on the 5V section) to give enough current to power the LEDs and the servos or is this pin only for controlling an external power supply with an SSR?

Or should I power these devices directly from the external 5V power supply?

      Thanks in advance!

@semi55 I would just power directly from the 5v power source.
Then connect the -ve of the 5v PSU to the -ve of the main power supply to make sure there's no difference in grounds

@jay_s_uk ok, thanks for your advice. I will connect them to the power supply directly.

Yes, you can do either of these. Use the +5V pin on the 5V_EXT_IN connector. See https://docs.duet3d.com/Duet3D_hardware/Duet_3_family/Duet_3_Mainboard_6XD_Hardware_Overview#h-5v

No, that's the 'pson' pin, though it is on the same header.
