G31 says always 0

Hi,
why does my G31 says always 0.
Should it not report the status or values?I can do G31 it comes "0"
I can do G31 Z-0.1
then again G31
and it comes 0.Is it right?

That's weird. On firmware 2.01 When I send G31 to the console I only get 0 back as well.
What firmware are you using?

For historical reasons, G31 with no parameters reports the Z probe reading, rather than reporting the G31 settings. You can send G31 T# where # is the Z probe type number (as in the M558 P parameter) to read back the G31 settings.
