Blown driver
-
I have another case of Blown stepperdriver.
It is a brand new board, and I´m wondering what the chances are that the board will work if I replace the driver.
Should i rather go for a new board?
Is it possible to find a blueprint of the Duet Wifi. Just to see if the blown driver is likely to have damaged something else.
Obviously I´m afraid this will happend again!
Any advise would be appreciated.
Kind Regards

The chip is pretty easy to change out IF you have a hot air rework station , the right flux , soldering iron and the experience working with all of the above. The first thing to do is figure out why the driver is blown before looking at replacing the chip or the board.
Here is a PDF to the schematic for the board: Schematic

If it's a brand new board, I suggest you ask your supplier for a replacement.
The Duet WiFi schematic is available here https://github.com/T3P3/Duet/blob/master/DuetWifiv1.0/DuetWifi_Schematic.pdf.

Personally I don't think you guys should be replacing boards when the user is at fault, but I certainly can't fault the excellent customer support. I threw 24v into the heater 3 pin of the SAM4E with one slip of a meter probe tip and it didn't cross my mind for a second to try and get a replacement. In the end you want everyone to be happy with what they purchased even if it means loosing a little money in the process.
In the case of a blown driver fixing the route cause should be the first order of business.
