My smart Effector has gone faulty out of the blue as there is no power to the hotend but the led does light's up, on doing a continuity check there is an open circuit between the hotend negative input H1 and the heater negative output H1 on the pcb and I can see no damage at all, is there a circuit diagram so that I could repair this?. Would soldering a wire directly between them be ok.

Thanks, I have now managed to repair it, it looks like the though plating on the heater output connector H1 had failed, re-soldered it and fitted a small wire between both input and out connectors, all working now

I'm glad you managed to fix it. We've heard of this sort of thing happening at least once before, so we did a design revision a while ago to duplicate the heater traces on both sides of the board. The copper thickness is only about 0.5oz so that the resistance of the strain gauge traces is high enough, and that makes the traces less good at carrying high currents, especially where they connect to the through holes. I'm guessing that you use a fairly high powered 12V heater.

              Yes that's correct dc42, I am using the E3D 24V 40W heater cart,https://e3d-online.com/standard-heater-cartridge, is this ok?

40W is on the high side, but as you are using 24V power I'm surprised there was a problem.
