Smart Effector Issue
-
Just upgraded delta to Duet Maestro and smart effector. When I run auto calibrate the triggered light on effector always goes green but the z probe status does not always move from 0. Some probe points stay 0 others are anywhere between 150 and 1000 reading. The probe always turns green and then goes to next point so it appears it is actually triggering but not showing. Because of this I cannot seem to get a deviation better than .078.

Most likely the wire from the output pin of the Smart Effector to the IN pin of the Z probe input on the Duet has a bad crimp connection. But check the soldering of the 8-pin connector to the Smart Effector too. That connector has to be hand soldered, so it's not impossible for a pin to have been missed. Also check that you have selected the correct probe type (P8) in the M558 command.

In my experience, the web interface does not always update fast enough, but that doesn't mean the leveling does not happen.

Good point, i forgot that the output pulse is only 100ms long so it's most often not seen in DWC. The fact that it moves on to the next point shows that it is triggering.
Does your printer use wheeled carriages, or linear rails? Did you mount the spirit level on the effector, and if so, does it show any tllt that varies with XY position?

Wheeled carriage and was not sure how to mount the level. I am now after some work getting .04 deviation and great prints until about half through a print. I get a slight layer shift for a while then return to normal. I am working on that now. This is a Flsun kossel mini that I could never get to work well prior to switching to duet. By the way excellent product of my 4 printers I have switched from MKS board to duet on 2 of them and they have never worked better. Plan on switching other 2 as budget allow.
