baby steps not working

upgraded from 1.21rc2 to 1.22, and it seems no matter how i tick baby steps it doesnt show on Z axis.

Using firmware 2.02 you should find that if no moves are in progress, baby stepping commands cause the Z height to be changed instantly (unlike in earlier releases). If there are moves in progress, it may take 2 seconds or until the end of the current move to take effect.

so it would not reflect the z position in dwc?
it is hard to tell if the baby steps did take effectThat's correct, the Z position displayed in DWC is the commanded Z position, not the Z position after allowing for tool offset, workplace coordinate offset, bed compensation, axis skew compensation or baby stepping. However, DWC shows the current baystep offset on the Status (or Print Status) page.
