New Delta Prints Not Quite Square
-
I'm setting up a new Delta and I'm printing 100x100x5 mm calibration prints. The z height is correct and measures exactly 5 mm.
But the X and Y are off
I'm sure some of it accounts for material shrinkage but I would expect the sides to measure close to the same. As it stands, the X measures 99.47. They Y measures 99.68 on one end and 99.75 on the other end.Placing a straight edge against the sides, it doesn't look like the lines are curved at all.
As far as my build, my Delta is constructed as follows. Top and bottom are plates that I had WaterJet cut from Cast Tooling Plate. The verticals are 4060 that I had milled square on the ends and to equal length. I'm confident my frame is incredibly accurate.
My rods are all of equal length, I built them one at a time on the same jig and the measurement between centers is accurate.
I'm using a Precision Piezo Orion as my probe and am running an 8 point calibration with deviation of 0.003. This is over the entire bed. I have a bubble level on the effector it is level and the bubble does not move at all during probing.
I can attach my config.g when I get home later.
Any ideas on what I might look at?

Small scaling errors like this are common on deltas, that's why we provide the M579 command.

That's what I was wondering, if I should be chasing down some build accuracy issue or just use M579.

With an error that small, if the sides are flat, I suggest you just use M579.

Will do, thanks.
