topic_solved Green LED - 6 flashes
Anybody know what 6 flashes of the green LED on startup means? Also, is there a comprehensive troubleshooting documentation available for the smart effector somewhere? It would be great if I could reference some sort of document for this sort of stuff as opposed to having to ask every time. Thanks in advance for the help.
Yes, but that document covers only assembly and configuration, not detailed troubleshooting. That info is currently scattered over multiple different forums, and it would be great if it was in one place, maybe even as an addendum to that page.
@ka15574 Agreed. Just wanted to make sure you'd seen it.
Do you happen to have links to some other information that should be in there? I could add it.
@Phaedrux here are some that were helpful for me: https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/5391/smart-effector-not-working
The second one was especially helpful in determining that my first board was broken.
Do you have any idea what the 6 flashes mean? Or do you have a better way to contact @dc42 to find out? He seems like the most knowledgeable about the smart effector.
Thanks for any help.
For reference, I figured out what the 6 flashes means by reading through the source code. Similarly to the 7 flashes, it means the voltage readout is out of tolerance, just out of tolerance on the other side. Most likely means I broke my second board too. Guess it's a good thing I just bought another one
Don't throw the one that isn't working away yet. I am investigating some Smart Effectors that passed initial testing but subsequently give 6 flashes.
EDIT: I have re-tested those. All of them work properly, except that some of them flash 6 times once or twice immediately after power up.
Note, it is normal to get 6 or 7 flashes once or twice while the circuitry stabilises. I will add this to the instructions. The version 1 effectors didn't do the same self-test, but many of them also needed a few additional seconds after power up before they responded to nozzle contact.
