Duet WiFi Modeling Dimensions
-
Any chance there's a STEP file model for the Duet WiFi somewhere or someone can generate one? Also, it would be great if there were a drawing with dimensions added to the documentation.
Thanks!

Hi Ian
I have added a dimension file to the documentation here:
https://duet3d.com/wiki/Mounting_and_cooling_the_board#MountingThe STEP File will require me to make 3d models of some of the components in KiCAD which will take a bit of time, not sure when I will have a chance for that. If you want I can share the KiCAD files with you if you fancy having a go?

Hope you don't mind me jumping in but I could do with knowing what dimensions to make an enclosure that will also take the TBA Duex2/3/4/5 as well as the Duet WiFi. Will the expansion board sit on top or will it be connected via a ribbon cable? Could I use Nylon stand-offs or will the mounting holes be different?

Hi Deckingman
The current plan is have the Duex5 be the same size as the wifi, connected by a ribbon cable in the same way as the 0.8.5 and the Duex4 connect. That means you can't stack them without the ribbon cable. but you have maximum flexibility to
a) have them side by side
b) have them back to back with standoffs to maintain the gap (would need a fan blowing past both backs to aid heat dissipation)
c) have them front to front with standoffs to maintain the gap ( the internal cables would need to be able to bend neatly so quite a big gap required
d) use a slightly longer ribbon cable with a twist to mount one on top of the other with standoffs to maintina the gap (one again a big gap required)Sorry I cant be more specific yet.
Cheers
Tony

Thanks Tony. I'm glad they'll be connected via a ribbon cable - as you say much more flexibility.

If you can read OpenScad, you can find the PanelDue PCB dimensions, fixing hole positions etc. in https://github.com/dc42/PanelDue/blob/master/PrintedParts/PanelDueEnclosure.scad.
