    • Duet 1XD packaging

      Hello,

      What is supposed to be the packaging of the Duet 1XD? I've made an order of a bunch of this boards to a Duet resseller and I'm simply shocked with the packaging. Basically, the boards came from Germany to Lisbon contained between ballscrews and a slat of wood with just a cardboard envolving the whole package. All of the boards came without their individual box. Some of the boards arrided obviously with visible damage as they literally absorbed every impact from the trip from Germany. The resseler is now saying that Duet3D shipped the boards without the individual boxes. It is obvious that I can't use any of the boards as even if they still work, I can't trust a controller that was shipped in this conditions.
      My main question is: How does Duet ships the Duet1XD boards? I'm just trying to figure out if the resseller is lying to me or if indeed Duet ships the boards in these conditions. duet1.jpg duet2.jpg ~duet3.jpg duet3.jpg duet4.jpg 1

    • RE: CAN Bus cable

      @dc42 Thank you very much!
      I have another question: How does the M597 command work to avoid collisions with two independent gantries with the new multiple motion systems feature of reprap firmware? I mean, if I set the "safe" distance of the gantries to 20mm, what happens when they reach that distance? Does one of them stop or slow down?

    • CAN Bus cable

      Hi there!
      I am building a large 3D printer for my master's thesis and am having difficulty finding an unshielded twisted pair cable with a 120 ohm characteristic impedance for long cables. Is there a problem with using shielded twisted pair cables, which are more readily available? The Duet documentation recommends using unshielded cables for long distances, but I am unsure of the reason.
      Additionally, I am using 10 motors with 10 expansion boards (one board per motor) and was wondering if I can connect all of these boards in series using a CAN bus cable with four wires (two for the RJ11 connector and two for power supply). This would simplify my cable management, even if I use a separate cable for power supply and the CAN bus, but still connect them in series.
      Best regards,

    • Duet wifi Spindle - Mach 3 Speed Controler

      Hi guys,

      I'm building a CNC machine with a 400W Spindle (48V) that comes with a Mach 3 DC Speed controler that receives a pwm signal with a level of 3.5 - 12 V VPP. How can I setup this spindle with this controller?
      I was thinking about using a pwm fan output from Duet but the output is 0-5V. Since I'm using a 24V power supply for the duet, can i use the fan output as VIN and add a step-down (24V to 12V) to connect to the spindle?
