      Hello,

i am switching my Anycubic predator to an Duet Wifi and an smart effector.

If i test the Z-Probe, the probe led is flashing shortly when i tap on the noozle.

But when i try to do a single probing with G30, than the noozle hits the heatbed, but no led is on.

If i try to test the g30 with hand in the air, i have to use a little bit " speed", that the z-probe will be active. If i try it slow, nothing happen.

Maybe someone have an idea what to do ?

        Hi Chris,

It's recommended to the P8 for the smart effector rather than P5.
        See here

My fairly up to date config files for my predator with smart effector can be found here

          Hello Jay,

if i change the Type to P8, then i am only getting an manual probing display.

With P5, the probe is working, but only one time, the second time i am getting an error

          10:48:04
          G30S S-1
Error: Z probe was not triggered during probing move
          10:47:53
          G1Z5
          10:47:41
          G30 S-1
          Stopped at height -2.786 mm

If i move to slow to test the probe, nothing happened, if i move fast, then the led is on

            Hi Chris,

Have a look at your probe trigger height as well.
            The line should read "G31 P100 X0 Y0 Z-0.1"
You should also have "R0.4" in your M558 command to set the trigger recovery time as per the smart effector commissioning instructions.

You also seem to have typed the gcode in wrong.
            10:48:04
            G30S S-1

Theres an extra "S" in there.

I would also look at your thermistor settings for the hot end. I'm assuming you've changed to the E3D hot end + the E3D thermistor? In which case you should have "M305 P1 T100000 B4725 C7.06e-8"

              Hello Jay,

i have not checked all firmware settings at the moment i am only at the z-problem issue.

I have checked all your points, but i have to choose P5 for the z probe, with P8 and G30 -s1 i am only getting the manual bed probing.

if i drive the nozzle to an hard object in 0,1mm steps and the noozle hit the object, the led remains dark.

If i use 10mm steps, then the hit causes an green led.

I ve checked all cables for the z-probe, everthing has contact and seems fine.

I am coming from core XY side and there i only use plates without zprobes 😉

              Chris

I have found the solution. I have to change the sensitifity of the probe a little bit.

Now it is working as intended ( i hope so .. ) , but my bed is really not flat...

@fragle said in Z-probe Smart effector is not working competely:

                  M558 P5 H3 F120 T6000 ; Set Z probe type to switch and the dive height + speeds

The probing speed you have set (120) is too slow for the Smart Effector, and you have left out the recovery time parameter as has already been pointed out. Please read the setup instructions.
