I want to use Duet3 as a standalone board. (No Pi)
I want to use M997 to update firmware by USB.
I download Duet3Firmware_MB6HC.bin and Duet3_SDiap_MB6HC.bin from the link.
      https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/releases/tag/3.01-RC6
I put the bin files in \\www folder.
Then I key M39 and the duet3 have response. (check SD card)
I key M115 to check the firmware version. (3.0beta12)
      I key M997 S0 and the duet3 have response.
      Error: In-application programming binary "Duet3iap_sd_MB6HC.bin" not found<LF>ok<LF>
So I change the “Duet3_SDiap_MB6HC.bin” file name to “Duet3iap_sd_MB6HC.bin”.
Then I key M997 S0 again. The duet3 only restart.
I key M115 to check the firmware version.
The duet3 show 3.0beta12, so it didn’t update.
I show the testing process below

So I change the “Duet3_SDiap_MB6HC.bin” file name to “Duet3iap_sd_MB6HC.bin”.

you probably need to find the correct iap binary from the 3.0 release

I put the bin files in \\www folder.

The update binaries need to go in the sys folder.

Upgrade to 3.0 release first using the zip file, then you should be able to upgrade from there to 3.01-RC9.

@ChrisP Thanks for your help. I make a mistake for my description, in fact I put the files in \\sys folder.

@dc42 Thanks for your help. I follow your suggestion and download the Duet2and3Firmware-3.0.zip from the link
                https://github.com/dc42/RepRapFirmware/releases/tag/3.0
My duet web control is 2.0.4.
I update system files by DWC.
The duet3 have response and show below.
                111.jpg
                I update system files again.

                I update system files again.
                333.jpg
The duet3 show the CRC check error is random.
I keep trying to update system files until the duet3 have no error message.
The duet3 show 3.0beta12, and it didn’t update.

I'm also pretty perplexed by this..I was able to update the DWC interface by uploading directly through DWC but when I try to update the Duet3 firmware it fails in a similar manner.

I tried using S3D as another method and got this
READ: Error: In-application programming binary "Duet3iap_sd_MB6HC.bin" not found

I checked the naming of that additional file and noticed it was
                  "Duet3_SDiap_MB6HC.bin"
                  NOT
                  "Duet3iap_sd_MB6HC.bin"

So I tried renaming this file on the SD card and then trying through DWC to update and then again through S3D. No luck.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but our issues seem the same. I tried updating first to 3.0 and then to the latest RC but still had no luck.

@Jimmykc, the Ethernet interface ws unreliable in early versions of RRF 3.0beta for Duet 3, which explains the CRC errors. However, if the two binary files have now been uploaded into /sys on your Duet, you should be able to run M997 to install version 3.0. If that fails, you can install version 3.0 over USB using Bossa.

IIRC, somewhere around beta 12, a number of users had issues updating and the only action was to bossa the board.

                      I suggest following this guide

                      https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Installing_and_Updating_Firmware#Section_Fallback_procedure_Num_3

Owns various duet boards and is the main wiki maintainer for the Teamgloomy LPC/STM32 port of RRF. Assume I'm running whatever the latest beta/stable build is
