A way to extend the micro SD on the PanelDuet 5" to an SD card
-
Hi,
I was wondering if some one can suggest a reliable source were I can purchase an extender from micro SD to normal SD for the panelduetI was concerned due to the note stated on the website:
"Caution! Do not use an SD extender cable from the SD socket on the Panel Due. Some types of SD card extender cable have been found to damage the SD card socket."Thanks

@Shaqour we don't recommend using an extender at all.
May I ask why you need to use full size SD cards?

I am designing a mount for the screen and the location for the micro SD is not reachable from the side. another issue, for my application i need to use a normal SD card to input files for printing
thanks -
I have used this one on multiple 4D Systems intelligent display projects to make the card accessible on custom cases but never tried it on paneldue or duet.

Maybe you could get a SD card reader module and make a custom wire to connect that straight to the Duet 10 pin connector for the SD card? The PanelDue would work fine from the 4 pin wire and be none the wiser the SD card was wired elsewhere without an extension.
something like https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=sd+card+module+-micro ?

Just a follow up note I learned yesterday. I bought a micro SD to micro SD extender to use with a PI 4 in a custom printed case for a digital dash display and it did not boot correctly. A little googlefu led me to https://forum.4dsystems.com.au/node/43404/page2#post55236 . There was a 330 ohm resistor on this new extender board between SCLK and VDD. Crushed (crude but effective) the 330 SMD resistor and it booted fine.
