first, thanks for the quick responses. I have been trying to install a dyze high temp thermistor. I am new so I have been a bit lost. through careful reading of the installation resource I now understand that I need to tune the adc high and low gain settings because the sensor has such high resistance.

Which firmware version are you using? RepRapFirmware 3.2beta1 and later can do this tuning semi-automatically for you. But if you are running RRF 2.x, please note that upgrading to RRF 3.x requires significant changes to the config.g file.

I am using v.3 right now but I will upgrade to the beta. is there any links for documentation on the tuning process which I could access.

to answer an earlier question, at approx. 22c the sensor reads 4.25 meg ohms.

this means your thermistor is broken or the wiring is broken

I don't know. the documentation from dyze is that the reading is supposed to be 4066017.

What firmware were you on before? You would have needed to update to 3.0 and then 3.1.1 before updating to the beta. With that missing file you may have needed to update to 2.05.1 first as well.

this is confusing, if I put the sensor on a meter and it reads 4.6 meg ohms at room temperature. I had taken it the the heated bed to try to match any of the values in the dyze documentation, but none did. Regardless after several stupid mistakes I have firmware 3.2beta1 installed and a reading for the sensor adjusted on the high gain parameter so that it matches the print bed reading. should be close enough. all filaments will get a temperature print test and the sensor will provide rock steady temperatures. I haven't tested it yet but I wanted to thank everyone for the help. if something goes wrong now I will just give up.

I should also mention thanks especially for the slice temp table.

Do keep in mind that it is an early beta and may contain all sorts of surprises. You may want to upload the 3.1.1 zip file just to stay on a stable release during troubleshooting to avoid any confounding variables.

yes. for example the touchscreen on the printer now does not respond to any control elements. I am only able to go through the separate tabs but none of the items on any of the tabs will respond.

If you mean the paneldue you will need to update the paneldue firmware to 1.24 and you will need to add a command to config.g to enable the paneldue.

Can you link to the data for the thermistor? I thought the Dyze thermistor was 500K at 25C, which means at a room temperature of around 20C its resistance should be will below 4.6Mohms.

I am wondering about a possible source for my temperature display to register values that fluctuate constantly between random values between -10 to +5 degrees of set point. the issue happened 10 hrs in to my first long print, no issues with the print however. my first guess was an overheat in the board, but I have a big fan on the board and I calibrated the board temp sensor. strangely it says the board is running at 24c which is lower than the 30ish that is normal.

I see your point, however I was getting excellent stable temperature until I got well into the long print. then the changes started. I have done the Hotend tuning and the stability is better but no as good as it was. perhaps there is some sort of break in.
