Maestro 2 questions
-
I'm confused, are you relaying someone else's experience there? You've only just got the link an hour ago.
-
duet maestro was developed together with m3d (https://fitforlaunch.com/projects/duet-2-maestro)
that is why they are still selling them. -
@Veti I may just return this Maestro 2 and wait for the Mini 3 Ethernet.
-
@Phaedrux No, I have it in hand. I made the purchase and found your forums after doing so. Reached out here to get some feedback. I want to use the Duet3D boards, just curious if this was how they were normally shipped when the panel is done so differently.
-
So you already have one? If so, here's a guide to installing it on an ender 3 pro. It's a perfect match.

Normally they would be shipped in their own box similar to the Paneldue, but M3D has chosen a different option. Does the board work? Shipping in a bubble bag might be ok, really depends on handling.

@Phaedrux I will bookmark and use this guide. I need to modify the Merlin Firmware for my Ender board since I put it back in after removing the BTT stuff. I won't really be able to start the board up will I can get the proper pins and connectors for the conversion. Is there a package that you know of that would allow me to do this conversion? I didn't see a pack on their site. Though I should do a little more digging.

@Phaedrux Greatly appreciated sir. Now since I realize this has a USB cable with it, would it be worth it for me to connect just the power wires to the board, hook up the USB to my PC and turn it on to check and see if it's bootable?
-
@Destruct0Dan
with usb you dont need additional power.
the cpu and web interface will work, stepper fans etc will not -
@Phaedrux Looking at this kit, from printersolid it's like $15 for shipping. Now I see that filastruder has 3 kits. So which would I want for the Maestro 2? They have Duet 2, Duet 3 and Duet Smart Effector. I just wanted to make sure that the Maestro wasn't going to be any kind of weird pin requirements like the Duet 3 over the Duet 2. That's all.
-
The Duet2 kit would be closest to the maestro. The Duet3 has larger motor connectors.
-
@Phaedrux Is it the DWC that I want to use to connect the Maestro to to check the board, pre-installation?
-
Well it depends how much you want to check. If you follow that guide it goes through a lot of initial setup checks like connecting over USB etc.
If you connect via USB you can see if it responds to M115 to report it's firmware version.

Okay, so I was trying to follow the steps for getting the web access to properly work by just typing in the web address that was listed. But it wouldn't show up unless I typed in the actual IP Address that was assigned by the router. But after setting the IP to 0.0.0.0 in the settings of the WebAccess, it now shows as ethernet disabled. That's after trying a M552 in YAT. How can I re-enable the Ethernet and get the ip back to something where I can see the unit on the network? Am I able to edit a file on the SD directly?
-
If you follow from here I think you'll get what you need.
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Guide/Ender+3+Pro+and+Duet+Maestro+Guide+Part+2:+Configuration/38#s135
If you have a config package from the configurator and prepare the SD card as described in there the Maestro will be set to DHCP and should get an IP address at startup.
The guide then goes through verifying the firmware and updating if needed and connecting to the web interface.
M552 S1 should enable the network. The default is DHCP so it should grab an address. M552 by itself should echo back the received IP.

My brain isn't understanding how Github works. I have version 2.02Firmware installed on this Maestro 2. After reading over some of the articles you have published, it mentions that we should upgrade to 3.0 first and then up to the newest live version. Does anyone have a link to the 3.0 release page so I can download that first, then update to 3.1.1?

@Veti Thank you. I have it up to 3.1.1 now. Now to figure out if I want to print an adapter plate for the Maestro to fit in my Ender 3 Pro or print a whole new box for the 7" display and Maestro.
