    Hello

I am trying to update my CoreXYUV machine from this post...(https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/16375/core-xyu-or-xyuv)
to a firmware newer than 2.02 which was at the time the latest version that would the machine in the correct manner

As a start point in documenting my 'troubles', I thought I may as well try RRF3, so have converted my configs, I believe correctly, but on any version greather than 3.0 - I am unable to get ANY movement from the drives at all

I don't 'appear' to have any config.g errors...?
    Capture_M98.PNG

    output from M122
    m122.txt

    config.g
    config (2).g

drive5, the first drive on the duex, has been removed from the board due to release of magic smoke from an incorrect stepper wiring incident, but like I mentioned above, everything moves on RRF3.0 (although not correctly from a CoreXYUV standpoint) and worked prefectly fine since May on 2.02

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

      M307 H3 A-1 C-1 D-1

this command is not valid anymore

      M669 K8 ; select CoreXY mode

that is not corexy, thats polar

      M308 S0 P"bedtemp" Y"thermistor" T100000 B4138 ; configure sensor 0 as thermistor on pin bedtemp
      M308 S1 P"e0temp" Y"thermistor" T100000 B4138 ; configure sensor 1 as thermistor on pin e0temp
      M308 S2 P"e1temp" Y"thermistor" T100000 B4138 ; configure sensor 2 as thermistor on pin e1temp

B4138 is wrong, look up the correct value in your thermistor documentation.

also stay with stable firmware 3.1.1 for now until you get it working

      Driver 5: position 0, temperature-shutdown! short-to-ground, standstill, SG min/max not available

is on of your drivers broken?

        @Veti i thought 7 was polar ?

        2dd791e9-ba75-4e24-b549-452483e4fe17-image.png

As mentioned, most of this config.g was updated from a working 2.02 config

I wasn't too worried about the finer bits until I got it moving the right way, hence the possibly incorrect values

I've tried 3.1.1, but I have the same issue, with that version also - I only get movement with 3.0

Yes, Driver 5 has been (physically) removed from Duex5

ok so the driver reports that both phases are disconnected, that makes sense than there is no movement then.

but why does it work on 2.02. thats very strange.

can you post the output of M906 ?

and yes 8 is corexyuv, i got confused by the corexy comment in your config

@Veti - Yes.. Here it be

              7d13e727-5b73-4539-9266-e0e6a31af014-image.png

No worries, I even tried K1, to see if at least 2 motors would run, no joy

At least the Bltouch works ! 😀

can you disconnect the duex5 ribbon cable and see if that works?

                  I have to admit i didn't try that 🙄

But, yes - I now get movement, so can only guess it's got something to do with the Drive5 - removed one on the Duex

Whilst I'm now getting movement, It's still not as expected/desired...
like why does my U carriage move when I home Y ?

But i'll do a seperate post for that.

Would still like to know if I can get movement with the duex5 in it's current state on this FW somehow ?

@curlypaul, you've posted your new config,g file, but please can you post the working RRF2.02 config.g file too so that I can work out your machine configuration.

@dc42 but what would make all motors stop moving in rrf3 if he has a bad driver on the duex5?

                            @dc42 config.g from 2.02 below..
The one thing that you may notice is that I have to use M669 K5 to get correct behavior, Not K8

One thing I noticed yesterday (running 3.2beta3) is that setting a negative tool offset for Z seems to permanently disable movement for that axis. You can move the axis in the Dashboard panel, the current position changes, but no actual movement occurs.

For example if I do G10 P0 X0 Y0 Z-0.06 then any Z axis movement is disabled and the board behaves as if the drivers were busted. Maybe a similar problem occurs for U.

It took me a while to realize this was caused by the negative G10 P0 Z-0.06 bit, I was convinced I had somehow managed to kill all four Z drivers on my Duex.

The one thing that you may notice is that I have to use M669 K5 to get correct behavior, Not K8

How did CoreXYU work before? What happened to V?

@Phaedrux it's a bit hard to explain/remember properly without being with the printer, but the main issue is U will move towards the homed X when homing Y.
also X,Y,U positions are lost/reset when homing other axis
Seemingly random but repeatable moves after and during homing.
Certainly with 2.03,2.04 and 2.05, the UV motors won't move at all if a movement in XY is commanded, resulting in what at the time I called 'angry noises'
Where as 2.02 set at K5, seems to have the printer work exactly as I'd expect

It might be best to video the difference and let that explain

@curlypaul I think I know what is going on. The newer version of the TMC2660 driver includes code to reset the microstep position to zero before it enables the driver. That isn't going to work if the driver has been removed. I will disable that feature for drivers that have been disabled using M569 R-1.
