Hi , I'm looking to get a new duet board to add to my duet 2 wifi , which is connection to my Ender 5 plus and a E3d Hemera which now prints the way I hoped a 3D printer would print.

Not sure which one of the 3 types to get, which all look to be unobtainable right now anyway.

      ( Duet 2 wifi , Duet 3 HC , Duet 3 mini 5+ )

Is there a compare chart between them ?

      I think I only need 5 motors ( X , Y , Z * 2 , E ) , but would like the option of using 6 motors at a later date ( Z * 3 ) , auto levelling.

I think the full Duet 3 may be over kill for me and would like the board to be stand alone wifi . What are the advantage and disadvantages between the boards ?

For a classic bendslinger printer like yours a Duet 3 Mini 5+ is imo the best choice with modern stepper drivers (TMC2209) that have StealthChop.
Duet 2 WiFi and Duet 3 is more suitable for setups with higher current motors or more motors in general.
Not worth the money if you don't use their possibilities and your prints won't also look better.

For I'm really deciding between the Duet 2 wifi and the Duet 3 mini 5+ , it looks like the mini 5+ may be the way to go.

From the specs the Duet 3 mini 5+ as more ram and flash , a Sd card slot , 5 motor with 2 more via the mini 2+ board so can't see any disadvantages .

            Yes, https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/The_Duet_family_of_motion_control_electronics.

Unless you need higher motor current than the Duet 3 Mini can provide, or you need to drive between 8 and 10 motors independently, or you need to drive external stepper drivers, Duet 3 Mini is probably your best choice.

For basic printers I think the Duet 3 Mini 5+ is a great choice.

I tried one and liked it so much I purchased three more for upcoming projects.

The only thing I can find which is a negative compared to the Duet 2 wifi is not having leds for the end stops.

@dc42 Are they still being made ? , OR are they like the E3D Hemera good luck getting one until last month for a full year.

Because the Genuine Resellers in the UK , E3D and ooznest are 0 in stock / 0 available with short delay.

The only thing I can find which is a negative compared to the Duet 2 wifi is not having leds for the end stops.

The endstop LEDs caused two issues: they made it harder to make the inputs tolerant of 30V, and they required the endstops to sink more current than some types of endstop can. This also meant that the LED being lit was not a reliable indication of the endstop being fully triggered. These are the reasons why we dropped them on later boards.

@dc42 big thank you here on the 30V tolerant inputs - Its one of my favorite features knowing that I can't fry the board by hooking up 24v probes/directly switched signals from default 24v sources.

I'll trade LED's for that for sure!

I can't say I've had a problem of putting a higher voltage than 3.3 volt on the end stop pins , But hate to know how many times I've shorted out the end stop 3.3v pin to ground .
