Bed heating time/rate with SSR relay
-
Hello gentlemen, how are you?
Is there a way for me to control the heating rate/time of the heated bed even using an SSR relay and bang-bang mode?
I have a 127/220 V bed and the glass is cracked because it heats up very quickly.Thank you!

@3dcloner, try sticking a dimmer unit between the SSR and the outlet?

@3dcloner you can use PID mode with a SSR by setting the frequency to 10 Hz.
You can also use a smaller PWM value.
When you change any of these you must tune it again.

@jens55 Great idea, if I can't solve it via firmware, I'll try this one, thanks.

@fcwilt I have an SSR with a frequency of 47 to 70 Hz, but I will test it anyway. Regarding PWM, if I reduce the concentration in M307 H0 S0.6, for example, wouldn't I be reducing only the average voltage that gives the signal to the SSR, and the voltage of 127/220 would remain the same?

@fcwilt I really don't know about the technical part of PWM, I know about the mechanics area, but the command related to PWM worked, I hadn't tried together because I thought I knew how it works, the lesson remains hahahaha anyway, thank you very much.

@fcwilt said in Bed heating time/rate with SSR relay:
You can also use a smaller PWM value.
That's exactly what you should do if you don't want to change the hardware. However, it sounds to me that you don't have an aluminium heat spreader between the heater and the glass (or if you do then it's too thin), and you are using ordinary glass not borosilicate. You should use either a good heat spreader, or borosilicate glass. My preference is to use a good heat spreader.

@dc42 Got it, sorry for the delay in the response. I will follow the recommendations. Thank you very much for your attention! Good week
