I read this with interest. Here as I am preparing for the Mini I have just ordered

The MCU-Temp is displayed in DWC, does that mean it now works?

I am semi-enclosing a Duet Mini and will be putting cooling fans in to keep the board and steppers cool but would like the fans to come on / go off relating on the MCUTemp.

I can see the MCUTemp in the OM.

I have another Mini5 in another Printer but have not enclosed it yet due to the above post.

Please could someone confirm if we can read the temp of the MCu.

    Kind Regards,
    Paul.

@paulhew officially the MCU manufacturer says that the on-chip temperature sensor does not work and must not be used. But it seems to be usable on at least some boards. So as an experiment, we have enabled it in 3.3RC1; but we may withdraw it in future if it causes problems.

It may not may not be useful on your board. You may need to apply calibration, see https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Calibrating_the_CPU_temperature.

@dc42 Appreciate that it may be withdrawn.
Its only that I saw the post dated Jan '21 and also have a reading on DWC so was intrigued.

Will try when RC1 is released.

        Regards,
        Paul.

@paulhew I've been using it since it was turned on and it actually been pretty accurate and is spinning up my case fans reliably. So Far.

One aspect of possible concern is that the conversion from raw data to temperature relies on calibration data stored in flash memory by the manufacturer. As the manufacturer is telling customers not to use the temperature sensor, it is possible that in future production they might stop storing the calibration data.

@dc42 @Nurgelrot Personally I have not had to calibrate nor have I needed to any of my Duet boards
If it is a couple or 10 degrees out so what!

I think the temp it currently reads is suitable enough for my application.
I just want to keep the board cooler when printing as it is going into a Voron V0 which is a small printer and if I am printing ABS it might get a little toasty!

              Appreciate the input Gents.

              Regards,
              Paul.
