OK can you do this:
- Disconnect the connector from the IR Sensor
- Using a small piece of wire or equivalent connect the signal and ground pins of that connector and check the DWC Z probe reading
- Then do the same but connecting the signal and power pins

the probe works but when I do g30 s-1 the bed stays at a great distance from the nozzle as in the photo

If you move the bed away from the probe, say to Z=5, does then doing a G30 or a G30 S-1 result in the bed moving and triggering the probe?

OK so the probe IS working.
After doing a G30 or a G30 S-1 it is normal for the probe to end up a small distance away from the bed.
That distance is the dive height (the H parameter of M558) plus the Z Trigger Height (the Z parameter of G31).
Does that appear to be what is happening when you do a G30 or G30 S-1?
