What bed heater do you have? Does it match the AC voltage in your country?
-
@frnknstn it sounds to me that you are feeding AC mains voltage to a 24V bed heater. No wonder it blows the mains fuse!
-
@zapta yes. i used this bed on my tronxy x5sa. I decided to tear the tronxy apart and incorporate voron2.4 into it.
-
@frnknstn i am just going by the voron manual. the manual has a wiring schematic that i went by. thats why im trying to figure this out.
-
@frnknstn, the voron part list also specifies a bed heater that matches the mains voltage (110VAC or 220VAC depending on your country). I think you have two options here, 1) Use a high power 24VDC power supply (e.g. Meanswell UHP 500 24V) and a matching SSR with your existing 24V bed heater or 2) Replace your bed heater with one that matches your mains voltage (e.g. 110VAC or 220VAC Keenovo silicon heater).
Once you choose the route you take, you can ask here for opinion about the components you plan to use.

@frnknstn figured it out. looked up the voron buildplate and the heater is 110. Myheater is 24V. sorry for the wasted time
-
@zapta yeah i just saw that. i appreciate your time. thank you
-
@frnknstn, please be aware that the SSR you posted is for AC beds only (see 'operating voltage' line). If you will decided to go with 24VDC bed heater supply you will need a different one. The duet documentation here has a page about choosing a SSR.

@zapta So if i switch the heater to this i should be ok?

@frnknstn, I suggest to instructions and source guide of one of the Voron designs (e.g. Trident or V2.4). They are available at bed sizes of 250mm, 300mm, and 350mm and are based on experience with hundreds or even thousands of DIY units.
Here are a couple of links:
- The recommended installation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZx4vfevwx4
- Sourcing guide (you can select the model at the bottom https://vorondesign.com/sourcing_guide?model=V2.4
Typically they recommend aluminum bed thickness of 6 - 8 mm. Is this what you have?
As for bed heather, Voron recommend smaller heater than the bed (e.g. 250mm heather for 300 bed) and lower power per square mm of bed (I think the general recommendation ~0.3 or 0.4W to square cm of aluminum plate). If you plan to use 750w on a 300mm bed that's about 1.2W/cm.
Other people here know more about it than myself. Let's see what they say? Or, you can start a new thread, asking for help choosing bed/heather configuration, this may attract new eyes.

@zapta i appreciate the info. i will definately look into this.
