Belted Z with stepper with brake
-
I have 2 printers with 3 point kinematic coupled BED/ 3 Z motors. One is IDEX with belts on 10:1 geared steppers and the bigger one 600x450x12 ALu bed is at the moment with 3 8mm leadscrews, had some Z wobble issues , so put anti wobble devices and went for single tread screws i.e. 1mm pitch , that is kinda slow.
I like the Z speed of my belted setup even with high gear ratio.
So I decided to convert my 3 Z screw setup to belted , I know that now firmware 3.. beta supports steppers with brake.
I am thinking about these
steppersWhat could be the config DUET3 and wiring of the brake
I went through documentation but was not able to find this explained -
@martin7404, have you measured how much load your 10:1 geared motors can hold? Just in case they can help the larger bed with no brakes.
Another option is to counter balance the weight of the bed as done here https://youtu.be/EVZu_KIni_o?t=655

@zapta Noo. My 10:1 are ok on my velted Z printer. And the hokding force of these motors with brake from the link is enough. I am asking about firmware config for stepper with brake
