@phaedrux funny how you mention that article.. that is one of the first things i looked up and was able to rule out because before anything i had the board on my bench with no connections from the power supply just the cable that was in the box and that was it. the puff of smoke came from the upper right hand corner of this picture right under the Z axis plug in i didnt even get to mount this product all i was trying to do is set the Wifi connection to it so i can get started !how did this happen.jpg

Maybe so, but it's hard to miss a crater like that. Yikes.

When and where did you purchase the Duet Wifi?

For the Duet Ethernet, have you gone through this yet?

What LEDs are lit on the Ethernet board? Did you use the firmware wipe jumper? You'll need to do that to get it to show up as a bossa port.

              For the wifi board,

@phaedrux.. that is the thing when i plug in the USB board with the factory provided cable i get no lights no Signs Of Life... i took it out of the 3d printer so no PSU no other connection to the board...bossa software doesn't even pick up the com port that its plugged into.

Do you notice any damaged chips on the ethernet board?
                  Have you checked the fuses?

Does anything get hot to the touch on the ethernet board? No LEDs at all?

@phaedrux i have been looking over the board and replaced the fuses and swapped out memory card and checked the board for over temps.. got it to fire up but now i get error short to ground on all X Y Z axis connections... and like i have mentioned before i have tested the motors and they are all good.. so i get signs of life but something is fried i just don't know how

Something bad happened and the zappy bits when to the wrong place.
