Using a 12 volt fan on 6HC board with vin 24 volts
-
Do you have other 24V units already connected to out8 and out9 so you don't want to jumper the voltage to 12V?
-
@gixxerfast Yes, there is another fan. I suppose I could move one of the fans to Out 4.
-
@weevil You could of course keep V- (fan gnd wire) connected to out7 pin and steal the V+ (12V) from any other free 12V pin. It's just a tiny bit more messy
-
@gixxerfast I just looked at the wiring diagram. It has this warning:
"Note: These outputs are protected by a flyback diode connected to V_OUT_LC_2. Do not mix loads connected to V_OUT_LC_2 with the jumper set to 12V and loads connected to V_FUSED on the same bank." -
@weevil How many fans do you currently have in total, and where ae they connected?
-
@deckingman I have 2 fans, one for the hotend and one for part cooling. I have decided to just stick with my 24v fans, much simpler.

That's the obvious solution, then you can set one of the two banks of outputs to 12V and the other one to VIN.
