I generated a post on this forum: "How to load firmware using only a SD card" because I cannot connect to my Duet boards. I have done the following:

Used four different boards; one brand new Duet 2 WIFI (just received), two older Duet 2 WIFI that bricked as a result of attempted firmware updates, one Duet 3 mini 5+ (never installed)
Three different computers; a Lenovo laptop (windows 10), A self-built gaming computer (Windows 11, Intel 12th gen processor, 64 Gb RAM, new socket lga 1700 motherboard), an older windows 10 Asus gaming laptop (windows 10).
At least a dozen USB cables.
Unsuccessfully attempting to install Duet drivers, at least a dozen times on all computers without any "successfully installed" message. None of my computers will successfully install these drivers.
Attempted to connect to the original Ender 5 plus Marlin board. Successfully connected, new com port automatically created without problems.

Both of the Duet 2 WIFI boards previously controlled Ender 3 printers until I attempted to upgrade the firmware. The Ender 5 plus works when I use the original Ender Marlin board.

I think that because of recent OS updates, the drivers will not load.

Any further suggestions?

@jumpedwithbothfeet Thanks for the recommendation. That was what started it all. I went through the configuration tool and added it to the provided sim card. I put the card into the board and tried to open it. No way to connect through the USB. I tried that several times, and I listed all the other things I tried.

@sheski3 does your windows PC not recognise the USB being plugged in at all? nothing showing in the device manager? to show what com port you are using?

@Phaedrux I couldn't find reference to the info above on the new website specifically Bossa has it been incorporated or is this procedure not recommended any more do you know?

@jumpedwithbothfeet The computer does not recognize a USB cable attached to a Duet board. Otherwise, the USB works great. That's why I think its the Duet driver not being loaded.

It's not possible to "brick" a Duet with a firmware update. As long as you can establish a USB connection you can reflash the firmware.
